Torquay Best Bar None attends national awards ceremony in House of Lords
The Torquay Best Bar None scheme was represented this week at a parliamentary reception hosted by Lord Rupert Reesdale in the House of Lords.
Committee members Emma Gibson (Green Ginger), Trevor Staveley (Street Pastors), Rob Elford (SHOT BY ROB), James Hopkins (London Inn) and Carol Stapleton (Shadow Security) joined representatives from across the country for the national awards ceremony.
Supported by the Home Office, Best Bar None promotes responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises. The scheme aims to improve standards in the night time economy by ensuring licensed premises meet minimum standards.
The Parliamentary Reception and National Awards was recognition of the work being carried out by the trade across the country to alleviate alcohol related crime and disorder, reduce harmful effects of binge drinking and build positive relationships between licensed trade, police and local authorities.
Neighbouring scheme Exeter Best Bar None was recognised on the night, being highly commended as the Best New Scheme and Innovative Scheme categories.
Regional schemes hold their own awards ceremonies with Torquay’s event planned for the autumn.
Confirmed sponsors for Torquay Best Bar None are Bays Brewery, LWC, Patronus Security, Shadow Security and the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner.
