BEST BAR NONE launches in Torquay

Torquay’s nightlife operators are joining the nationwide Best Bar None scheme.

Supported by the Home Office Best Bar None promotes responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.

It was piloted in Manchester in 2003 and found to improve standards in the night time economy, with premises now competing to participate. It has since been adopted by 75 town and cities across the UK with Torquay holding its launch event at Pier Point Restaurant & Bar on Wednesday 20 January.

The aim of the Best Bar None scheme in Torquay is to reduce alcohol-related crime, antisocial behaviour and increase business, through the delivery of education, training and the promotion of best practice, to broaden the appeal of Torquay – more especially the evening and night-time economy.

Meet The Buff Bouncers in The Green Ginger

After a busy few months of photo shoots across Torquay, the highly anticipated BUFF BOUNCERS calendar launch party takes place at The Green Ginger on Friday 11 December from 9.30pm.

Wearing nothing but their shorts and a smile, stars from the calendar will be meeting and greeting customers as well as selling copies of the calendar.

Everyone involved has volunteered their time and talents with every penny raised going to Help for Heroes, thanks to the headline sponsor Patronus Security and local businesses who have sponsored a month.

Studio photo shoot and cash prizes up for grabs this Halloween!

Halloween promises to be the busiest weekend of the year with prizes in many venues across town.

I will be judging the best costume in Venue nightclub where the winner will receive £100 cash, with runners up winning bottles of Bollinger champagne.

Rock Garden will also be handing out a £100 cash prize for the best outfit.

Once again I’ll be running a competition for the most popular photo. A shortlist will be posted on the SHOT BY ROB Facebook page with the photo receiving the most ‘likes’ winning a photo shoot worth £100.

Door staff from across Torquay’s bars and clubs are stripping for charity, releasing ‘The Buff Bouncers’ calendar.

The lads are being photographed on various locations across Torbay including the Rooftop Bar at Mambo and the Palm House at Torre Abbey – wearing nothing but a smile!

The photo booth will be an integral part of the Saturday night party in the Lloyds No.1 Wetherspoon pub. Expect lots of props and special theme nights throughout the year.

BRITAIN’S sexiest farmer will join more than 5,000 other young farmers in Torquay for the national convention next weekend.

George Grant, 20, who works on the family farm in Lincolnshire was voted Britain’s sexiest farmer by a public vote which attracted more than 15,000 votes.
